Practice Day 12th July
2008
The Leys of Alfred Watkins.
We investigated three of the Watkins
leys around Little Dewchurch in Herefordshire.
23 members and guests met at the
Plough for coffee and a talk from the co-ordinator Rob Campbell who is acting as
Training Officer for the year.
Again we were very lucky the weather
!
Robs map of sections of the three
local leys showed eight places where we could park safely and dowse for the line
as it passed through. Before lunch, which was a picnic or another visit to the
Plough, everyone was given an introduction, and a chance to tune in at two of
the points on one of the leys, part of which went from Little Dewchurch to
Aconbury Camp. After lunch we set off to investigate the other two chosen lines.
Both of these spread across the beautiful rolling countryside of Herefordshire
towards the Beacons in Wales. One passes through the church on the Scudamore
estate at Hightrees at one end of our chosen section, and the other end, the
church at Aconbury Court. The section of the other line we investigated went
between Little Dewchurch Church and Fownhope church.
We looked, quite successfully, for
remnants of the movements of ancient peoples, when they travelled these routes
in the belief that they were more likely to be accompanied by good spirits and
good energies if their journey was made in a straight line between places of
spiritual significance. We felt in some of the places visited, the dowsing
evidence was quite strong, and accurate, particularly where tracks or pathways
continued to run close to the ley. In other places indications seemed very weak
and difficult to assess . There also of course was the confusion of the many
energies, around churches for instance, which seems to blur the accuracy of the
results in those areas.
A nice day though. We all learnt
something from the experience, and all that practicing will be put to good use
in our future dowsing. RC
