THIS MONTHS DOWSING TIP........THE WITNESS

There is one helping hand that a lot of dowsers will use to get a more precise result.  The witness, a sample of the material being sought, or some artefact associated with the subject under scrutiny.  The witness has to be chosen carefully to ensure that there are as few unwanted features about it as possible.  Sometimes a witness may be a personal item belonging to the subject, as with psychometric dowsing.  The more complex the question, it seems, the more important it is to use an unambiguous witness.

If you need a witness for a complex and important project, you should perhaps look around for something that has had “experience” with the subject for a long period, and as far as possible not “experienced” with anything else. An example of an ambiguous witness is a wedding ring passed on from grandmother or someone else who may well have treasured it for a long period of time. The needs of the dowser are the same as those of the psychometrist in this type of project.

It is easier to choose a witness to assist you to find some specific material, perhaps a gold or silver item, but there again beware of being sidetracked if the witness is not either identical, or a sample of the base material being looked for.

It could be that this need for the right type of “experience” in the witness used is essential.  Sometimes this requirement is simply a matter of age, sometimes purity, identical appearance, how cherished, how used, respected, etc etc. Whatever you do as a beginner don’t chose any old witness, believing it will help you.  In fact it may well do the opposite!

Also along those lines for map dowsing, a well used (and possibly old) map may be a better tool for map dowsing than one that has just been bought, and never looked at.  Possibly, even better if the map has been trusted for its’ accuracy a few times.

All these things somehow seem to help our links with the dowsing process.

MINORS AT GROUP MEETINGS   This has been discussed in  committee  at length.  A few members have expressed an opinion.  The committee is adopting the following draft ruling as a trial until the next AGM, when it will be put forward for inclusion in the constitution.

For the moment minors may not become members of The Group.

Minors may not attend meetings that are not designated Family Days or Family Meetings  by the committee.  No meeting is considered to be a Family Day or Family Meeting unless that meeting has been specifically named or advertised to the membership as such by the committee.

Under these circumstances, and provided limited numbers are involved, minors will be welcomed to such a meeting provided

              1.  At the outset, minors must always be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult member.

              2.  Permission has been sought from a committee member in advance of that meeting.  And  this committee member has acknowledged and approved the request.

              3.    A note (provided by the Group) is completed and signed by the responsible member. This note is an acceptance of responsibility for the good conduct, behaviour and personal safety of the minors he or she wish to bring to the event.

Any ruling, or decision by a committee member, has to be viewed within the framework of the rules which already apply to members of The Group.

Note.   It is recognised that the children of site hosts cannot be held to be the responsibility of The Group

FIONA’S LABYRINTH  You may remember that Fiona is constructing a labyrinth at the Malvern Spring Garden Show.

The Malvern Spring Gardening Show is held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern Wells on 9-11 May this year, the weekend after the first Bank Holiday. It always costs a fortune to get in, because it is partly run by the Royal Horticultural Society, but it is well worth it, as it is a big show, and is the run up to Chelsea, with many of the same exhibitors. You need a full day there, as there is lots to see. There is masses of free parking and it is always well signed.

                           STAND  770

The purpose of Fiona’s Labyrinth at the Spring Gardening Show 2003 is to allow people the experience and pleasure, and the opportunity, to walk a classical seven-circuit labyrinth.  The construction will be of simple materials, but chosen to be hard wearing and practical, so that the path may be walked without the need to concentrate on the structure, just on the experience of the walk.  The proposed location will allow the pattern of the labyrinth to be enjoyed and appreciated from a distance.

It is anticipated that the labyrinth will be an attractive feature of the Show, and will draw many people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to walk a labyrinth.  It should add to the overall enjoyment of the show for members of the public.
