Virginia Reports on the three interesting talks given on 3rd June, in the attractively refurbished Village Hall at Aston Ingham. Group Members and guests enjoyed talks from fellow dowsers, Richard Bartholomew, Rob Gilmore and Hilary Marchant. Richard described the disturbing effects of past events in an area of Worcester which, at the time of the Reformation, had been the site of a gallows. ‘Gala Day’ derived from ‘Gallows Day’, and the sufferings of the unfortunate criminals were entertainment for onlookers; the victims were not buried. After the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot (1605) many Catholic families were persecuted and priests had to hide. Hindon Hall had 8 priest holes; there was little space, the hole was too small for the fugitive to stand up in, and it was insanitary. An expert, Dr. Kenneth McCall, believes that the cause of disturbance, such as exhibited in a house near the gallows site, could derive from a dysfunctional, deceased member of the family who had been killed, as a criminal, and not given a proper burial or burial service. A Requiem Mass might help. Rob had two topics: ‘Making Friends with a Pendulum’ and the possible dangers of radiation. He told us that, as a child, he had been intrigued by his Aunt’s experiments in dowsing; for 30 years he ‘forgot’ about it, then his interest was rekindled and he read books and attended seminars. He became irritated by prescriptive instructions as to the ‘right’ way to dowse, and became convinced that everybody should adopt their own, individual, approach. He thinks that the “Can I? May I? Should I?” questions should still be put before dowsing and he had derived his own way of ascertaining “Yes” or “No” to questions he asked of his pendulum. On the subject of mobile ‘phones he is convinced that the emission of radiation, particularly where the ‘phone is in frequent use, could be harmful to the user. He places an amethyst on his ‘phone, and also puts a quartz crystal on the microwave and on his TV set, with the ‘blunt’ end up. Kind, but misguided, friends frequently turn the crystal the ‘right’ way up! Geopathic stress in cars can be reduced by fitting a copper wire that touches the ground, and thus ‘earths out’ the stress.
