LIBRARY AND INFORMATION RESOURCE There
is a well-stocked library with 55 books available, on loan, to Members of our
Group. The
books are taken to the indoor meetings and displayed so that members can
exchange their books; loans can be extended as long as three months.
In addition there are several audio-cassettes (subjects: philosophy and
crop-circles) and a video-cassette (subject: Yoga).
The
content of the books varies from studies on leylines, megaliths and crop circles
to practical advice on dowsing techniques and tools.
There are several books on the spiritual aspects of dowsing and healing. At
the time of writing 14 of the 55 books are out on loan but unfortunately 2
others have been missing since October 2002; as there are no borrowers’ names
on the cards, these cannot be traced.
An amnesty would be declared if the books were returned!

The
idea of why we should ask permission before starting to dowse has always
intrigued me so I thought I would set down a few thoughts to see if a debate
could follow within the group. I
remember in the early days of SHD we had several visiting speakers who told us
that for our own protection, the mantra of ‘Can I? Should I? May I?’ or
similar, should always be used. This is of course a separate issue to that of self-protection, which as a therapist and dowser, I fully subscribe to, although, is that just because it makes me feel better? As for the dowsing of other people, I feel that it should only be attempted after asking their permission, which is surely common courtesy. On balance I feel that the ritual of asking permission is a way of turning on and tuning in to dowsing mode. What do you think ?
